On June 7th, 2003 ‚Stylits - live‘ presented real persons on five advertisement pillars in the center of Düsseldorf. Individuals of different ages, professions, ranks and religions and of various origins were given the opportunity to speak to the public, to sing or express themselves otherwise from above ‚their‘ columns. From manager to homeless people, from Turkish adolescent up to housewife modern stylits talked about themes they had at heart, they were touched by or which by chance entered their minds. Commonplace fellows instead of famous contemporaries or historically important persons attracted attention.
The commercial advertisement pillar became advertising agent for the human being. The passer-by turned into a sculpture.
